The Bible

The Holy Bible: New International Version, Containing the Old Testament and the New Testament. Grand Rapids: Zondervan Bible, 1978. Print.

The Holy Bible is a text used by Christians. It is used for moral guidance and support. There are two main parts of the Bible, The Old Testament and The New Testament. The Old Testament was written before the birth of Jesus and is also used in the Jewish faith. The New Testament was written after the birth of Jesus and is about his life and what happened after his death.

We covered a wide variety of texts in this class. While, I did see the themes I chose originally in the texts, I felt that some texts had stronger relations to other themes. The first theme I chose was "Overcoming Adversity" because I thought that it was pretty universal, everyone has to overcome adversity at one time or another. Another of my original themes was "Man Struggles Against Societal Pressure" again, I thought this was a pretty inclusive theme, that also tied in well with "Overcoming Adversity". The last theme I chose was "The Importance of Family" because family is extremely important to me and I wanted to see how this theme was used in texts throughout the ages.
